In early September, the MARIAN project partners gathered for their second Transnational Meeting—a milestone in the development of inclusive, creative, and Montessori-based approaches to mathematics teaching in multicultural classrooms.
At the meeting, held in Lesbos, the MARIAN project partners co-designed and tested the first workshops of our inclusive mathematics curriculum, working directly with our first experimental teaching units, each of which explores creative and inclusive approaches to mathematics.
Workshop 1
A Line
We begin with art to explore the concept of lines, inviting students to express mathematical thinking visually, physically, and creatively.

Workshop 2
Quadratic Identities
Using Montessori-inspired materials, we make algebraic concepts visible and concrete, facilitating understanding even in multicultural contexts.
Inclusion, creativity, and practical thinking: together we are building new ways of teaching mathematics. Follow us (on social media and in our newsletter) to learn about project developments!

Workshop 3
Tiling the Square
An engaging and hands-on activity designed to enhance cultural diversity in multicultural classrooms. The third workshop piloted in Lesbos explores geometric models, designs artistic tiles, and uses Scratch to create mosaics—combining algebra, geometry, and creative programming.

And these initial workshops are just the beginning!
What’s next for the MARIAN project?
We’re fine-tuning the activities, preparing training materials, and preparing for the pilot phase in 2026.
In the coming months, we’ll share in-depth articles about our journey, ideas, and educational vision.
